The Milky Way is somewhere between Fela Kuti, The Talking Heads, LCD Soundsystem and The Roots. Headed by VJC alumnus Sum, and composed of nothing but family (Pudge, Xman, Computer Jay and more...really, even his wife is in the band), the outfit carries the vibe of a warlike tribe from space rocking out in your face.

iLLspoKinN is the Emcee of SPOKINN MOVEMENT, THE Live Hip Hop Band in New York City, who’s debut Album was released by Rawkus Records in 2007. Since 2002 iLLspoKinN has been the co-host to New York’s Livest Hip Hop Jam Session Weekly: Sin Sin’s FREESTYLE MONDAYS. iLLspoKinN also serves as a mentor for inner city youth through URBAN ART BEAT, a Hip Hop after-school program for middle school kids.

Agent Strange is Mike McFadden (Singer), A Cee (Production and Samples) and Matt Kass (Drums) rounding out this brooklyn/jersey based trio. Using the punk DIY aesthetic they create music that is fresh and genre bending while keeping you grounded in the familiarities of breaks, hip hop and pop.

and the 3Kings Will be rocking out for their debut Transmissions show. 2 Mics a DJ and soul for miles and miles.

People Under The Stairs, the Los Angeles duo composed of Thes One & Double K are back with their 7th album Carried Away scheduled to drop Oct. 13th on OM Records. LA the party is not over (Oh YEAH!!!) the NEW single "Trippin At The Disco" is the disco joint of the year. Set this joint on ultimate high and grab your platformed sole shoes while the music comes alive.

In March of 1980 two young rappers from Los Angeles appeared on the “Chikara Kurahashi Hit Station” variety show in Tokyo. It was the first time rap music had ever been performed in Asia and here is the lost tape of that performance. Enjoy this lost performance transferred from Beta – People Under The Stairs “Trippin’ at the Disco”

I am still coming down off of the best High ever…Hip Hop is a Drug…Hip Hop is a Religion and I am a Heavy User and Blind Devotee. The Common Foundation, Common & Friends Benefit Concert at the Hollywood Palladium was a once in a lifetime experience.

Lemme give you the run down of the artists:
De La Soul, The Roots, Ludacris, Nas, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Common, Heavy D, Queen Latifah and Kanye West; all beats supplied by the infamous DJ Dummy.
I know right??? Hip Hop Royalty all on one stage…Fuckin’ Bananas!!!

When I walked up I heard Luda yellin’ for everyone to "Move Bitch Get Out The Way" the crowd got hype and it kept getting better. With Nas gracing the stage in all white putting it down with several freestyles it was a beautiful segue into what would be an unforgettable night. I mean when you have The Queen singing everyone’s hooks and Mos Def busting out with "UMI Says", your mind goes to some place where only beats and lyrics survive and life become good. I just stood there hand in the ayer ON ONE!!!! The Queen has her turn and lights it up with U N I T Y…and you know all the Ladies Who Love Hip Hop had to scream. The Queen L A T I F A H was definitely in command. The building shook when Talib, Kanye, The Queen, Mos and Common all took the stage for an awesome medley that included "Love of My Life", "Get Em Up High", and a few other Hip Hop classics. The air was electric with positive vibes as we all became one during Kanye's renditions of welcome to the "Good Life" and "Poker Face" backed by Common. I know I’m thinking what other magnificent thing can happen and then...I heard a "diddly diddly diddly deee" and The Man himself appeared Heavy D "The Overweight Lover" was in the damned House…I was speechless.

At some point there was a 5 minute freestyle with Common, Talib and Mos Def that drove the crowd into frenzy mode and sent me into stimulation overload. I really believe if anyone else had come out on stage I would have passed out…Undeniably three of the best lyricists of all time on one stage.

The crowd …the artists…it was all so amazing…everyone coming together for one cause one love and that was Hip Hop. Hip Hop isn’t dead it’s just in a slight hibernation as far as mainstream goes. I still believe in the power of music and its ability to bring all of us together with LOVE in the form of Hip Hop!!!
